First Mark Fast sent a legion of plus-size models down his cobweb-knitted runway, then Jean Paul Gaultier declared size-sixteen it-model Crystal Renn his AW 10/11 muse, and now Marc Jacobs has announced his first foray into the plus-size world of fashion.
The American designer’s business partner Robert Duffy spilled the beans on Twitter, sharing “We are in talks now. For plus size” and “We gotta do larger sizes. I’m with you. As soon as I get back to NY.”
Duffy is toying with names for the new range already, preferring ‘Above Average’ to the controversial ‘plus-size’ tag, although judging by the latest addition to the Jacobs empire – a NY bookshop dubbed BookMarc – the final label will be something to look forward to.
