HAIR ACCESSORIES (March 10)

This year there is nothing more on-trend than a statement headband to update your look for Spring/Summer. They were everywhere on the catwalks- delicate florals adorned every model at the Chanel couture show while Dolce and Gabbana wowed with bejewelled headbands, luscious silk flowers and ribbons. Vintage style beading and trinkets added detail to all the headbands in the collection. Headband trends are hot on the high street so get the designer looks for less at Accessorize- choose embellished bands for glitzy cool to wear almost at the forehead, or go for cute floral alice-bands and layer up for stand-out style. Spring/Summer shows also brought showers of micro-trends for hair accessorisation- try a classic silk scarf for vintage Hollywood glamour. Go the whole trend by knotting under the chin, or try a glimpse of the look by pulling up a high ponytail and tying in place with a demure square scarf. Scarves were big at Kenzo and Marni while Marc Jacobs sent them down the runway knotted around necks and wrists. Get your high street version at Topshop, choose chain prints for maximum glam. For those with more cash to splash head to the traditional silk-scarf-destination-du-jour Liberty, whose new scarf emporium has every style a girl could wish for. Revamp old hair tricks with new accessories: side plaits dominated the runway at Alexander Wang, pick up some statement hair ties to update the look for 2010. Marc Jacobs' adorable cat face hair elastic is stylish and cute, while less pricey hair tie options are ubiquitous on the high street- head to Urban Outfitters or Accessorize. Whatever you're wearing this spring, keep your hair fashion-forward: just add a headband or side-plait and accessorise for ultimate hair chic.
